Alisa Adkins

In October of 1990, a little girl named Alisa was born in a small town in Southern Illinois.

She quickly grew to discover her love and compassion for all creatures. During her second

grade art assignment, she was asked what she saw herself being when she got older. She

immediately thought “Veterinarian!” and that thought never changed.

Alisa’s love for animals continued all through her grade school and high school years. She

graduated from Joppa High School in 2009 and attended Shawnee Community College on an

Agricultural scholarship continuing her passion for all animals by taking animal nursing and pre-veterinary courses.

Upon completion of her Associates of Arts and Science Degree, Alisa transferred to Murray State University, where she continued her education in the Animal Health Technology Program. In December of 2013 she graduated with a degree in Veterinary Nursing.

Since then Alisa has been working in small animal medicine for the last 10 years, loving her life and all facets of her Job. Her main area of passion lies in surgery and anesthesia. Over the last ten years, she has had the pleasure taking care and monitoring your beloved pets while under sedation and anesthesia.

Outside of the veterinary field, Alisa loves anything and everything outdoors. Just absorbing and taking in the beautiful sights of the mountains has to be her favorite outdoor activity. She also thoroughly enjoys life with her precious son, Raylan and Fiancé, Wes. Over the years,  Alisa has found two dogs and two cats that made their way into her heart and family through clinical rescue. Thank you for taking the time to read and learn about Alisa, as she is so very excited about her next 10 years and beyond and the opportunity to love and care for your pets at the Veterinary Institute of Paducah.
